Pool safety systems
The safety systems for swimming pool are essential so that a space for leisure, recreation and fun, physical training, rehabilitation, getting fit… is always a safe space.
For this, there are different systems that can help us achieve it. Of course, always making it clear that no safety system replaces supervision by human.
We may differentiate between two kinds of safety systems that can be used in a swimming pool:
- Outside the pool, those systems that focus on deterring, hindering or preventing the entry into the pool water.
- Inside the pool, other systems that deal with analyzing what happens inside the water
SAFETY OUTSIDE THE POOL
About the first group, these are the most used:
- Protection or security fences, whether fixed or removable. Mesh, wood, steel, glass …
- Pool enclosures or covers, whether it is safety covers, high, low, telescopic, fixed, passable covers, etc.
- Perimeter alarms. Located in the surroundings of the pool, they detect when a passage occurs through the imaginary line existing between the different emission modules, warning of said passage.
SECURITY SYSTEMS INSIDE THE POOL
On the other hand, we find systems concerned about what happens in the water:
- Volumetric alarms. They are in charge of notifying when there is any notable anomaly in the pool water; the entrance of some body inside, for example, while the alarm is connected.
- Bracelet, necklace… devices that warn when they come into contact with water
- Underwater surveillance systems; either by means of submerged cameras, exterior cameras or volumetric systems that perform analysis of the swimmers’ performance, in real time.
Broadly speaking, we can currently use these main safety systems for swimming pools to guarantee our protection before, during, and after bathing.
